What happens if I miscalculate my ELSS investment goal?

Setting the right ELSS investment goal is crucial. However, miscalculations can happen sometimes due to unrealistic assumptions or changing financial situations. If the goal is undercalculated, you may fall short of the required target amount. On the other hand, overestimation will result in surplus corpus, which could have been invested elsewhere.

However, one of the key benefits of ELSS is flexibility. After the 3-year lock-in period, investors have the choice to redeem or remain invested based on requirements. For under calculated goals, you can choose to invest more through top up lump sums or increase the SIP amounts. For overestimated goals, the excess corpus can be partially withdrawn after the lock-in period and invest in suitable avenues.
