There are usually no special interest rates or concessions offered specifically for pensioners on gold loans. The terms and conditions, including interest rates, are typically the same for all customers, irrespective of age or occupation.
Gold loan interest rates are based on factors like loan amount, loan-to-value ratio, tenure, market rates set by RBI, risk profile of the borrower, relationship with the loan provider, etc. Rates generally start from 9% per annum across various lenders.
While pensioners as senior citizens may be perceived to have a stable credit profile, financial institutions do not provide preferential pricing or concessions to them as a separate customer category by default, until or unless there is a special ongoing offer for them.
However, some banks or Non-banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) that want to target pensioners for gold loans may frame special offers or schemes with discounted rates or benefits exclusively for senior citizens.
For instance, a gold loan provider may announce festival offers with lower rates for pensioners than regular customers. Or they may waive processing fees as a gesture of goodwill for pensioners.
