What Documents Are Required for Women to Apply for a Gold Loan?

The documentation required for women applying for a gold loan is generally the same as that for all applicants. However, some financial institutions may have relaxed norms for women applicants. Here is a list of the typical documents required:

  • Proof of Identity: PAN card, Aadhaar card, voter ID, driving license or passport
  • Proof of Residence: Utility documents like electricity bill, telephone bill, bank account statement or rental agreement showing current residential address
  • Gold Ornaments and Proof of Gold Ownership: Typically, the gold jewellery to be pledged as collateral is weighed to ascertain loan value. Additionally, you must provide proof of gold ownership, such as an original purchase invoice or a certificate authenticating that you own the gold. Both the jewelry and proof of ownership are essential documentation requirements for your gold loan application.
  • Bank Account Proof: A copy of the passbook or recent bank statements (typically from the last 6 months) in the applicant's name.
  • Income Proof: Latest salary slips, FORM 16, or tax returns may be required; however, some lenders may waive this requirement for women who are homemakers.
  • Other Know Your Customer (KYC) Documents: Financial institutions may require 2-3 passport-sized photos, ID proof photocopies, and other KYC documents.

Though proof of income is often waived for women applicants who are homemakers, having one may help them get better loan terms. All documents submitted should be clear, legible copies to facilitate a smooth application process.
