What documents are required to apply for an MSME loan?

While the specific documents required differ from lender to lender, here are the key documents typically required to apply for an Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) loan:

  • Bank Statements (last 6 months): Needed to assess the business's cash flow and transactions. All types of MSMEs usually require this document.
  • Business Registration Proof: Depending on the type of MSME, a proprietorship would need to provide a relevant shop establishment license, a partnership firm would need a partnership deed, and private/public limited companies require a certificate of incorporation/commencement of business. This establishes the legal status of the business.
  • Business PAN Card: Required to verify the business identity and for income tax purposes. Generally needed irrespective of the type of MSME.
  • Applicant's PAN Card: Needed to verify the owner's identity. Commonly required document.
  • Selfie Photograph: A recent photograph is usually required to initiate online loan applications and Know Your Customer (KYC) verification. It is necessary for all kinds of MSME loan applicants.

MSMEs may need to provide other documents like Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration, past financial statements, projections, ownership information etc. depending on the lender and type/size of the loan. But the above are the typical key documents.
