Tracking a Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) transaction is easy and enables you to verify the status of your bill payment. Here are the steps to track your BBPS transaction:
Step 1. Check transaction status on the biller’s website
Many billers, such as electricity boards and telecom operators, have options on their websites or apps to track BBPS payments. You can check the transaction status using your:
- BBPS reference number
- Consumer number or account number
This will show the payment status as paid or unpaid.
Step 2. Check with your bank
You can also check with your financial institution, online or through their call centre, by providing your account details. The bank can refer to the transaction status and confirm if the payment to the biller is successful or pending.
Key things to check:
- Debit entry in your account
- Transaction reference number
- Date of payment
This will help you determine whether the bill payment instruction has been processed and funds have been transferred from your account.
Step 3. Contact your biller
If the payment is not reflected after 3 working days, contact your biller directly. Provide details such as:
- Consumer account number
- BBPS reference number
- Date and amount paid
The biller customer care can then trace the payment status from their end.
Tracking payments is helpful to ensure your money reaches your billers correctly. Do not hesitate to use any of the channels above if your bills show unpaid even after making payments.
