Is the Atal Pension Yojana benefit ₹8.5 lakhs?

Yes, the maximum benefit under Atal Pension Yojana can be up to ₹8.5 lakh, but this is only for those who opt for the highest monthly pension of ₹5,000. This corpus is built over the years by the monthly contributions and accrued interest.

After the death of both the subscriber and spouse (if married), or directly to the nominee (if unmarried), the nominee can receive up to ₹8.5 lakh as a lump sum. The spouse is the first beneficiary (who may receive the monthly pension until their death), after which the corpus goes to the nominee. This lump sum amount is paid only after all pension payouts have ended.

Disclaimer: The final corpus paid to the nominee may vary based on actual investment returns and consistent contributions.
