Can I set up automatic bill payments for my electricity bill?

The NPCI has introduced a new AutoPay facility that allows you to easily set up automated recurring payments for your electricity bills via UPI apps.

This AutoPay feature enables electricity providers, as well as other recurring billers to integrate UPI e-mandate. As a customer, you can now simply authenticate your UPI e-mandate on the app to activate automated periodic bill payments.

For electricity bills, you can set up an e-mandate on your preferred UPI app like Shriram One, BHIM, Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, etc. This recurring e-mandate will deduct your electricity bill amount automatically on the due date every month from your linked bank account.

This seamless AutoPay facility for electricity bills via UPI apps eliminates the need for manual bill payment every month. It ensures timely payments, thus avoiding late fees or disconnection.

You can manage your e-mandate by logging into the UPI app - modify mandate amount, put mandates on hold or even revoke the mandate by simply switching it off.
