Does BBPS provide EMI or instalment-based payments?

BBPS does not allow you to split your bills into EMIs.

BBPS is mainly a bill payment system. It lets you pay bills such as electricity, gas, water, mobile recharge, and even loan EMIs. But it does not give you an option to convert your payment into monthly instalments.

If you already have an EMI set up with a financial institution, for a personal loan or vehicle loan, you can pay those instalments using BBPS. Many banks and NBFCs (non-banking finance companies) allow this, and you will find the option on apps such as Paytm, Google Pay, or your bank’s mobile app.

But if you were hoping to convert your electricity bill or broadband bill into EMI payments through BBPS, that is not possible. BBPS only acts as the payment link. It does not give EMI offers.

Certain credit cards, might allow you to convert some large bill payments into EMIs after the payment is made. That is a feature your bank or card provider may offer, which is separate from BBPS.

In short, BBPS helps you pay existing EMIs. It does not offer new EMI plans itself.
