The time taken for your payment to reflect in the biller's account depends on the mode of payment you have used:
Net Banking / UPI Payments
- Most net banking and UPI payments get credited instantly or within 30 minutes.
- However, some banks may take 12-24 hours to process net banking transactions. Check with your bank on expected timelines.
Debit/Credit Card Payments
- Card network payments usually get credited to the biller within 1-2 working days.
- The settlement happens through Visa, Mastercard or RuPay payment channels that transfer it to the biller’s account.
NEFT money transfers
- NEFT transactions up to ₹2 lakhs made during working hours get credited on the same day.
- Payments made after working hours take 12-24 hours to reflect.
RTGS money transfers
- RTGS transfers made before the bank's cut-off time reflect instantly.
- Payments made after cut-off may take up to 90 minutes.
In summary, UPI and net banking tend to be the fastest options for bill payments with near instant settlements. Card payments through Visa, Mastercard and RuPay gateways settle within 1-2 working days. And NEFT/RTGS options may take anywhere between a few minutes to 12-24 hours based on the transfer timing.
Exact timings can vary slightly based on the bank, biller, and payment platform involved, so checking with the specific financial institution is advisable for precise expectations.
