A FASTag is valid for 5 years from the date of issuance. After 5 years, you will need to replace your FASTag.
The validity period applies to the FASTag electronic chip itself. As long as the chip is functional, the tag can be used even if the sticker on the vehicle is damaged or peeled off. So, you don't need to worry if the physical tag gets a bit worn out over time. Focus on keeping the electronic chip intact.
To check your FASTag's expiry date, log into your FASTag account on your bank's portal or mobile app. Go to the 'User Information' or 'Account Details' section to find details like the FASTag issuance date and expiration date.
The balance in your FASTag wallet does not expire. Any unused balance will remain active in your account for up to 5 years as long as your FASTag remains valid. If your physical FASTag sticker gets damaged before expiry, you can apply for a replacement FASTag from the same bank. The unused balance from your old account can then be transferred to the new FASTag account.
