If the transaction is not completed, when will I get my money back?

If you have made an online transaction or purchase and the payment went through, but you did not receive the product or service, you are eligible to get your money back.

Timeframe for Refunds

Financial institutions and online merchants typically have defined timelines to process refunds when transactions fail or orders get cancelled. Here's what you can expect:

  • Credit/Debit Card: Can typically take between 5–7 working days to reflect in your account once approved
  • UPI/Wallets: 1–3 working days from the initiation of the refund
  • Ecommerce sites – Up to 7–10 working days after pickup or cancellation of the order

Auto-refunds for Failed Transactions

If the transaction was interrupted due to technical errors such as payment gateway failure, server issues, etc., the amount will usually be automatically refunded to your account within 5–7 working days.

Manual Refunds

If the seller cancels your order due to inventory issues, you will have to request a refund, which may take 7–14 working days to reflect in your account.

Depending on the refund type and company policies, you can expect the refund to show up in your account between 1 and 2 weeks. Contact the merchant's customer service if the delivery timeline has been extended beyond. Most reputable companies will ensure you get your money back for unpublished transactions or unfulfilled orders.
