What are the Different modes of payment under BBPS?

The Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) offers many modes for customers to pay their bills with ease. The main payment methods available are:

Online Payments

  • Net Banking: Customers can pay directly from their bank account using net banking facilities. Most major financial institutions in India are part of the BBPS system.
  • Cards: Debit cards, credit cards, and prepaid payment cards issued by participating banks can be used to make bill payments.
  • Wallets: Mobile/digital wallets such as Paytm, PhonePe, Amazon Pay, etc., enable payments under BBPS.

Cash Payments

  • Agent Networks: Customers can visit authorised retail outlets and agents to pay their bills in cash. The agents accept cash and update the payment into the BBPS system digitally.
  • Bank Counters: Cash payments can also be made over the counter at participating banks that are connected with BBPS.

Automated Modes

  • Auto Debits: Customers can set up standing instructions through NACH or ECS to automatically deduct the bill amount from their bank accounts every month.
  • UPI AutoPay: A facility where recurring payments get deducted automatically on the bill due date with UPI apps.

Customers can choose and set up bill payments through any of the above methods based on their convenience and accessibility. RBI’s rules make sure all payment methods work smoothly together. As more banks and companies join BBPS, you will have even more ways to pay your bills easily.
