What happens if the bill amount is not fetched in BBPS?

If the bill amount is not fetched in BBPS, there can be a few possible reasons:

Wrong Consumer Number/Account Number

If you enter the wrong account number or consumer number while making the bill payment, the system will not be able to retrieve your bill details and amount. Please examine the account details closely before proceeding with the payment.

Temporary Technical Issues

Sometimes, temporary technical glitches in the BBPS system may prevent bill details from being fetched. Wait for some time and then try again. If the issue persists, contact your bank or BBPS payment service provider.

Bill Not Updated by Biller

Sometimes, the biller/service provider may not have updated the latest bill in the BBPS system. In such cases, your bill details will not get updated. Check directly with your biller or service provider for the latest bill amount.

Payment Channel Issue

In rare cases, there may be intermittent issues with the payment channel, which may lead to bill fetch issues. Trying to pay via an alternate bank or channel should resolve this.

The key is not to make assumptions about the bill amount and make a hasty pay. If the BBPS system is unable to retrieve your bill, contact the biller to confirm the amount and proceed with payment through alternative methods.

You can also raise a complaint to get a refund in case you have already paid an incorrect amount.
